"Situation" vs. "situational"
[edit]Maybe this is a national difference, but I remember clearly that in the 1950's and later (until "sitcom" took over completely) in the U.S. the name was "situation comedy", not "situational comedy". I added that to the article. I don't have a source, but there is no source anyway, so it's just as well justified as "situational comedy". Zaslav (talk) 06:30, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- A quick Google search for definitions turns up definitions of "situation comedy" (Cambridge English Dictionary, for example) but not for "situational comedy". I believe "-al" is a historical error and should be changed. (By my personal experience, for what it's worth, "-al" seems to be believed by young people who were not around when the term was widely used.) Zaslav (talk) 06:33, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
WP-CITEKILL Cleanup
[edit]Reduced 16 citations in a flagged sentence to two by finding external summaries of the sourcing (critic reviews, awards & noms) from credible sources (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes). Minor sentence cleanup as well. Removed CITEKILL flag following the cleanup. Technutt (talk) 20:47, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Another take on genre
[edit]A sitcom is also a type of television series. Television series currently redirects to television show.
This to me demonstrated the way in which categorization and navigation of related articles on these topics in Wikipedia is currently problematic, perhaps at least partly because of differing terminology, in the USA, Britain and Australia for example. Andrewa (talk) 06:59, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
